It’s been a while since my last post, I’ve been spending all my spare time studying for the CCIE. Since my last post I sat and passed the 350-001 Cisco CCIE Written exam.
350-001 Written Exam Debrief
Without violating my NDA agreement. The exam contains no simulation based questions and wasn’t as difficult as I imagined it would be, however it seemed the range of questions drew from every area of the exam blueprint. The drag-and-drop style of questions were a pain, that style always seems to frustrate me, and I believe that is where I likely lost most of my points.
Books I had used in preparation for the exam were :
- Routing TCP/IP Volume I
- Routing TCP/IP Volume II
- CCIE Routing and Switching Certification Guide
- Reading Cisco Website and relevant RFC’s
Next Steps
I’ve purchased the INE Advanced Technologies course as well as a few of their workbooks. I’ve started watching the videos, 3-4 hours per day on weekdays and 8 hours per day on the weekends. This time will gradually increase until I sit the lab, which I hope to do by the end of this year.
Next project is to get my ine compliant rack completed, I’ve purchased all the equipment and I’m just waiting on some cables and memory upgrades to come from the U.S. I’d ideally like to be able to allow others to use the rack when I’m not using it for a small fee, and this might help offset some of the cost of setting the rack up.
